Biography
Born 1986 in Sydney, Australia, P. G. Preece studied drawing at university and currently works as a painter and draughtsman in Sydney. She is known for her still life paintings and expressive drawings.
Influenced and inspired by modern still life painters, P. G. Preece works from life often depicting subjects at a larger-than-life scale. In the contemporary context, the artist’s interest in still life painting is due to its potential to communicate via symbolism/metaphor and also its potential as a means of experimenting with drawing materials (graphite, pencil, pastel) and techniques in painting. Of equal importance is the artist’s drawing practice which centres around drawing people from memory and imagination. Her work has been exhibited in association with galleries across Australia.
